Design Visualisation

Cobalt & Carrara

A single-wall kitchen concept in cobalt lacquer and high-gloss white, held together by a full-height veined marble backsplash.

The Design Story

A concept study for a long single-wall kitchen, developed around one decision: let the marble run the whole way.

The backsplash is taken from counter to the underside of the wall units in a single dramatically veined slab rather than being broken by tile joints, and the same stone reappears on the floor. That continuity is what gives a fundamentally simple layout its presence. Against it, the base units are finished in a saturated cobalt lacquer — deep enough to hold its own next to the stone, and grounded by a near-black counter that separates the two strong surfaces.

Above, high-gloss white wall cabinets keep the upper half of the composition light and bounce daylight back into the room. A recessed open shelf in a dark timber interrupts the white run, giving the eye a place to rest and somewhere practical for jars in daily reach. Slim horizontal handle profiles in a warm metallic tone are set into each drawer front; they are the only decorative element in the scheme and they tie the cobalt to the warmth of the timber.

A freestanding range sits at the centre of the run, deliberately treated as the focal appliance rather than being concealed behind matching panels. Concealed strip lighting under the wall units washes the full length of the counter.

This is a concept design produced by the studio. It is presented to illustrate our design approach and is not represented as a completed client project.

01 — Design Intent

Single-wall kitchens fail when they read as a corridor. Giving this one an uninterrupted stone backdrop and a single saturated colour turns the length into the point of the room rather than a limitation of it.
