Design Visualisation

The Considered Workspace

A home-office concept built around a single wall of joinery: storage, display and desk resolved as one continuous piece.

The Design Story

A concept for the room that has to switch between concentrated work and video calls without looking like either an office or a spare bedroom.

The proposal consolidates everything into one wall. Full-height shelving in a warm timber veneer runs the width of the room, with a desk returning from it as part of the same carcass rather than as a separate table. Closed storage occupies the lower third so that paperwork and equipment disappear; open shelving above is reserved for books and a small number of objects, spaced deliberately rather than filled.

Lighting is handled in three layers: a concealed cove above the shelving to wash the timber, a slim linear fitting over the desk surface for task light, and a single warm downlight on the seating side to keep the video-call background from going flat.

The wall behind the desk chair — the one that appears on camera — is left as a plain plastered plane in a soft neutral, with one framed piece off-centre. Everything visually noisy is deliberately placed behind the person sitting at the desk.

Awaiting photography or visualisation before this scheme is published in full.

This is a concept design produced by the studio. It is presented to illustrate our design approach and is not represented as a completed client project.
